In ‘N Out Burger Headed to Dallas

Rumor has it that you will soon be able to have your famous California landmark Double Double (protein style of course) and eat it, too, even if you live in Dallas. The privately owned, never-franchised burger chain has 240 locations to date in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, all of which are said to be within a day’s drive from the company’s Baldwin Park, CA distribution center. The reason: freshness.

No official word from the company yet, but Side Dish magazine says that the first location, according to this approved building permit, will be in the Dallas suburb Garland, Texas.

Rumor is that nine Dallas/Ft. Worth locations are already planned.

The move to Dallas, 1500 miles from their current distribution center, means good news for Texans, and perhaps neighboring states, as it would probably mean building a new distribution center to service the Dallas locations.

The only thing on the menu that contains gluten is the bun, so get your burger “protein style,” (wrapped in a giant lettuce leaf), and enjoy some fries and a shake with that. Facebook friend Tami von Rotz says, “Ask for a “Protein Style Special” which means they use a clean spatula to avoid cross-contamination.”

They are also in Idaho. I have gone to three – one in Pocatello, one in Twin Falls and one in Boise, but only at the one in Pocatello did the staff even know what gluten is. It is a little scary. I will ask about the “Protein Style Special” and see if that helps. Their burgers are pretty good, and it is especially amazing to be able to get fries without worries.

Interesting, Becky. Their list of all locations doesn’t include Idaho at all. http://www.in-n-out.com/alllocations.asp I searched on Boise and found several groups of people asking In-N-Out to consider putting one in Boise dated as recently as May 27,2010. Pocatello business directory doesn’t list one. I’d love to update my info if I’m wrong, but can’t seem to confirm it.
