Burger King New Fry Recipe Contains No Gluten
A Facebook friend recently inquired about the gluten free status of Burger King’s new french fries.
After a bit of research and an email exchange with the company, their fries do not contain gluten ingredients.
Before ordering, you must confirm that the location you are visiting fries them in separate oil from the other fried items. Mixing the cooking of the fries that don’t contain gluten with breaded chicken or onion rings makes them NOT gluten free.
Found on their web site: “French Fries are cooked in a fryer designated for French Fries only. Frier oil contains: corn, canola, soy and or/cottonseed oils.”
French Fry Ingredient List: Potatoes, Soybean Oil, Modified Potato Starch, Rice Flour, Salt, Leavening (Disodium Dihydrogen Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Dextrose, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate to Preserve Natural Color

If you don’t want to eat these fries, please refrain commenting on this post. This is just provided as a source of information for those who are interested. Thanks.
So many people are allergic to soy that it would be nice if they would just commit to not using soy oil too…
having worked at a burger king for five years, the fryers for the french fries are supposed to be seperate, they rarely are.
also, soy oil is cheap. its part of vegatable oil. i highly doubt thats ever going to change.
I’m gluten intolerant, but not a Celiac. I can tell when I’ve had something containing gluten within 15 minutes of eating it.
I’ve had the fries at my local Burger King and haven’t had a reaction to them.
HOWEVER, my local BK scoops the fries with the same instrument as the onion rings and I found a piece of an onion ring in my French fries. That’s why I don’t eat them any longer. I can’t risk the cross contamination.
I emailed BK twice and never got a response. I tried them once and they are a lot better than their last ones. I did not have a problem. But the cross contamination issue is too big of a risk.
This is great news, i have a Friend who suffers from Celiac, and anything that can make her life better is just great. I have had the fries at BK and their flavou is just as good as any oyher fries. I just hope they can correct the cross contamination issues.
Like any other restaurant, talk to Manager, and when you find a BK that follows good practices, stick with it!
This is great news! I will be sure to check my local Burger King for cross contamination risks. My daughters have multiple food allergies and Burger Kind is one of the few places that actually has food they can eat. I have Celiac Disease so it would be great if I could find something to eat that is gluten free….and their fries are so delicious.
Thanks for the info & awareness BK! You’re a forerunner with posting your nutritional info & working towards food standards for Celiacs & others.
Ask them to take them straight from the frier to your tray; they tend to use the same warming bin for both the fries and the rings and I often find an onion ring has ‘gone over the fence’ so to speak!
