Chick-Fil-A Debuts GF Grilled Nuggets & Healthy Kid’s Meals
Chick-fil-A has introduced new grilled nuggets as a part of their healthy Kid’s Meal choices. The gluten free grilled nuggets are not just for kids, though. My family has been ordering them for years as a part of the chicken nugget combo. Most locations (all we have asked) will also give you grilled strips (not on the menu) in addition to the grilled chicken breast, which is officially on the menu.
Chik-fil-A Waffle Fries are gluten free and fried separately.
Following is more information on Chick-fil-A’s new Kid’s Meal offerings:
- Introduction of Grilled Nuggets: These gluten-free Grilled Nuggets are made from a boneless, skinless breast of chicken tumbled in a salt and pepper spice blend and then grilled to perfection. The four count is only 80 calories and 1 gram of fat, while the six count contains 110 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.
- Addition of Buddy Fruits® Pure Blended Fruit To Go: Apple Cinnamon: Each squeezable fruit pouch is gluten free, all natural and contains 100 percent pure fruit. It is 60 calories, 0 grams of fat and equals one serving of fruit.
- Improved beverage options: The chain is changing its children’s beverage line only to feature one percent milk, 100 percent apple juice, its signature freshly squeezed lemonade and water as drink choices.

According to Chick-fil-A’s full-time dietitian Jodie Worrell, these new menu additions come as part of Chick-fil-A’s broader initiative to offer healthier menu options to customers. Initiative highlights include the addition of the Fruit Cup in 2004 and moving to a complete menu (including all condiments) with zero trans fats in 2008. Chick-fil-A also is actively working to reduce sodium across its menu, including a 40 percent sodium reduction in its Chargrilled Chicken filet, 25 percent less sodium in breads and removing 10 percent of sodium in dressings and sauces. Additionally, the chain has removed high fructose corn syrup from its chocolate milk, and some salad dressings and sauces.

Bravo! Now if Chic-fil-a can move towards free range chickens and organic apples juice and salads, they will really be doing good work. The way caged chickens are treated is not healthy for the chickens or our bodies. Apples are one of the dirty dozen – which means they have the most pesticides. I know it takes time to make these changes and believe me I know how expensive free range and organic can be, but what price health?
Thanks!
awesome awesome awesome I buy Chic-fil-a for my family and go to another room while they eat as I’m Gluten intolerant. Trust me it so so very hard to not eat the deliciousness of Chic-fil-A! I know for sure what I’m having for lunch tomorrow! Thank you Chick-fil-a!
Now if they would remove the MSG from all their chicken products, more people could eat their food!
The new nuggets don’t have MSG
You are right. The grilled chicken does not have MSG, but it does have disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate…Disodium inosinate is used as a flavor enhancer, in synergy with monosodium glutamate (MSG) to provide the umami taste. It is often added to foods in conjunction with disodium guanylate.
Same effect.
The chargrilled chicken has autolyzed yeast extract and soybean oil and soy lecithin, so it’s on my avoid list; I assume the nuggets are the same.
I had these Friday night and liked them. However, I think you get more chicken with the Chargrilled breast and the taste is the same so I think I’ll stick with that.
Chick-fil-a’s grill is next to the pressure cooker and very likely to have cross contamination…………..
