Udi’s Gluten Free Foods is donating 300 pounds of free GF granola to a worthy charity. On Thursday August 4th, Udi’s took nominations for charities to receive the donation. On Friday Udi’s Staff chose the top 5 charities that accept food donations of this kind.

The Five Finalists are:

(1) The Road Home is a private non-profit social service agency helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County.

(2) The Food Bank of the Rockies provides food assistance to nearly 400,000 people who live in poverty and struggle to meet their basic food needs.

(3) The Peninsula Communities of Faith’s Food Backpacks 4 Kids program is a community effort to ensure that students who need food on the weekends have access to nutritious and easy-to-prepare food.

(4) Second Harvest Food Bank provides food assistance, conducts nutrition classes and works with lawmakers to advocate for policy changes that can help eliminate hunger and its root causes in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

(5) Children’s Hunger Fund fights hunger using the unique in-home food delivery method that in turn builds trusting relationships.

Pick your favorite worthy cause by casting your vote on the Udi’s survey. Voting begins on Tuesday, August 9 and closes on August 11 at 11:59pm MST.

My vote is for your donation to go to Second Harvest. I help a neighbor who depends on our local food bank to help feed her family and there never seems to be enough healthy food choices~ mostly day old bread and donuts. It would be nice if local food banks could have more nutient dense foods to offer struggling families.
