Another Gluten Free Pasta Choice

Another Gluten Free pasta choice: American Italian Pasta announced that their Heartland brand has introduced a gluten free pasta.

The company said the new gluten-free line matches the “color, texture and flavor” of traditional pasta and will come in spaghetti, penne and fusilli shapes.

The Heartland gluten-free pasta is egg-free and dairy-free.

Pat Regan, American Italian’s senior vice president, says the new pasta, which is a blend of corn and rice (no other ingredients are listed on their site), is a no-compromise pasta choice.

“Because gluten-free foods typically cost about 79 percent greater than their normal counterparts, a gluten-free diet is more costly to maintain than a non-specialized diet is. With a suggested retail price of $1.99 to $2.69, however, Heartland allows consumers to serve great-tasting family meals that also are economic. “ (Earth Times)

Heartland Gluten Free Pasta is now available at Wal-Mart.

Whew! The more options the better! If it tastes good, it will find it’s way into my basket..if it doesn’t, higher priced pastas will still be in order..cause I have to love my pasta! I’ll be keeping a look out for it..now, if someone will just come up with Angel Hair pasta!

very disappointed…the pasta tastes great however it was made in a facility that uses wheat which means even though it is stated to be gluten/wheat free there can still be cross contamination. In my situation my daughter is 8 and has celiac and is very sensitive. Thanks for trying though.
