Crowd-Pleasing Chili
By: Trish Strat
I make this recipe every year for our neighborhood Super Bowl party. I make it the day before: 3 batches, in 3 pots. Then on party day, I put it in the crock pot to heat & serve. The neighbors love it!
Details

- 2 cups chopped onion
- 2 lb lean ground beef
- 8 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 28-oz can crushed tomatoes
- 3 8-oz cans tomato sauce
- 3 TBSP chili powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 3 15-oz cans dark red kidney beans, drained
Directions
- Saute onions in a large, deep pot.
- Add ground beef, brown and drain.
- Over low heat, stir in crushed garlic.
- Add tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir well.
- Stir in the spices.
- Add drained kidney beans.
- Simmer 30 minutes.
- Top with your choice of: shredded cheese, chopped onion, sour cream.
Be careful with your selection of chili powders! I have found not all are GF. I found the brand Carroll Shelby's chili kit is GF.
