Holiday Chocolate Butter Cookies
By: Lisa Amnotte
This is one of my favorite cookies from a recipe I found years ago by Land O Lakes and modified for GF. I have not found a GF marachino cherry but they are great in the middle of a thumb printed ball.

Vicki - Margarine or Earth Balance Buttery Sticks are a good option. According to Cecelia's Marketplace shopping guide, a few brands of GF almond extract are Kroger, Publix, McCormick, D&W Fresh Market. I don't know of any off-hand that are not gluten free, but reading the label is always a good idea. This cookie recipe is also extremely great- http://glutenfreeville.com/recipes/desserts/chocolate-thumbprint-cookies--guten-free-dairy-free-vegan (Gluten Free, Egg Free, Dairy Free, Vegan)
just tried this recipe, with the Pamala's mix...
it's dry and crumbly. i would suggest adding more eggs.
Can this be made with dairy free margarine? Do you know if there is a dairyfree butter? I need GF and dairy free. Are all almond extracts GF? New to all of this. newly diagnosed. Thanks!! Vicki
