What goes snap, crackle, pop, and is gluten free? You guessed it – NEW Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Gluten Free cereal. Due out in stores in a few weeks, these Rice Krispies taste extremely similar to the original ones that you remember before going Gluten Free, complete with snapping, crackling, and popping.
Kellogg’s says, “After hearing from so many gluten-free families out there, we’re happy to bring you NEW Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Gluten Free cereal, made with brown rice. It’ll be available in June, so be sure to ask your local supermarket to stock up! The new cereal is made with whole-grain brown rice and eliminates barley malt (the source of gluten in the original Rice Krispies® cereal). Our gluten-free option is produced in a separate facility, and each batch will be tested to ensure its gluten-free status. You’ll find Rice Krispies® Gluten Free cereal in the cereal aisle, right alongside the original Rice Krispies® cereal, and at the same price, too! So now your kids can enjoy a bowlful for breakfast, and they won’t miss out on the timeless taste of homemade Rice Krispies Treats® marshmallow squares.”
Ingredients: Whole grain brown rice, sugar, contains 2% or less of salt, BHT for freshness.
Vitamins and Minerals: Iron, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin E (alpha tocopherol acetate), niacinamide, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B1 (thiamin hydrochloride), folic acid, vitamin D, vitamin B12.
Kellogg’s was kind enough to include the familiar recipe (below) with the cereal they sent me to try out, so I decided in order to give this cereal a fair trial, I would have to make the Gluten-Free Rice Krispie Treats® as well! I threw in a handful of chocolate chips and they were awesome. They don’t call them “Treats” for nothing! As usual, they were excellent and there was still enough cereal in the box for a few bowls, too.
Every few months, more great and affordable gluten free products are showing up on grocery shelves. Thanks, Kellogg’s! And while you’re listening to the gluten free community, please make some gluten free Pop-Tarts!!

Oh my gosh I so want to eat these! The other brands of crispy rice cereal are no where near the same. I hope I can get them through mail order, as they won’t be in my local grocery store any time soon. I can’t wait to share gf Rice Crispy Treats with my little girl.
I am just thrilled! Since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease 3 years ago, I have really missed making (and eating) Rice Krispies Treats. My cereal bowl hasn’t Snapped, Crackled, or Popped in as long. Thank you so much.
Thank you Kellogg’s for your latest product “NEW Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Gluten Free Cereal”. I wish a few more companies would follow suit. Life would be much more enjoyable with good food to eat and cook with. Thank youn again.
Does anyone know if the cereal is going to be certified or is this going to be a repeat of the Pebbles incident with Post a couple of months ago?
Linda-
“Our gluten-free option is produced in a separate facility, and each batch will be tested to ensure its gluten-free status.” That’s all they say about that subject right now.
Thank you so much..my daughter is a Celiac, and she has loved these ( Rice Krispy treats)since she was a little girl..decades ago..Keep up the good work, Kellogg’s!
I am sooo excited! I love Rice Krispies Treats! Being new to the “strict” gluten free diet due to my recent celiac diagnosis, I have been depressed about giving up all the wonderful foods that I love so much. Thank you Kellogg!
Where can you buy the gluten free rice krispies?
Kimberly- You’ll begin seeing them online and in grocery stores beginning in June.
Nancy; Glad to hear that more gluten free products will be available on the market. However, I’m troubled that BHT preservative is in this product. Kids on the gluten free and preservative free diet would have problems with this product. Also I question what the source is for all the vitamins that were added? I hope its not soy oil or peanut oil? Kids with allergies would have problems with this product. Is this product made from Organic brown rice? (pesticides?) Our family now reads all ingredients labels, and we put many products back on the shelf when the list contains, allergins, additives, preservatices, and artificial dyes.
wow! this is fantastic!! Post (f.pebbles), Chex and now Kellogg’s all are sensitive to GF cereals… This is very good for the GF community! I hope this quickly moves into other product groups by the mass food companies.
I hope they taste like the real thing! This is going to to be a different cereal, not like the Chex just changing the malt flavoring. I will buy it and try and hope that they decide to change CRISPIX! They were my favorite before diagnosis!
my had some issues with them. she is gluten and dairy free any ideas y?
my mom sorry
