O’Doughs Breads – Oh My!!

FLAX SEED BUN

I’m so excited to be finding more and more excellent gluten free breads out there. If you look through the Gluten Freeville product review section, you’ll see 4 or 5 excellent breads I’ve tried recently (Just a reminder: I never accept payment for a product review. I only tell you about it if I LOVE it.)

A fabulous new store opened in my area recently- Sprouts Farmer’s Market. I was already familiar with the store and knew they would have many Gluten Free items, so armed with an empty shopping cart and a credit card, I went on a really fun field trip. One of the great finds on that first Sprouts adventure was O’Doughs. I bought the Flax Seed Buns, White Buns, Morning Buns and Flax Seed Bread.

Flax Seed Buns & Bread

All the items were frozen, so I left a Flax Seed Bun out to try later. When I came back to it, it was still cold, but no longer frozen. I broke a piece off the edge and popped it into my mouth. It was soft and very tasty- abundant in seed-filled texture, but real bread. No kidding, I went straight to the freezer to pull the bag out in order to double check that I had bought the gluten free rolls and not something gluten filled by accident. Sure, enough, the largest type on the bag says “Certified Gluten Free,” followed by “Too good to be Gluten Free.” Both are true! These would make awesome hamburger or sandwich buns and are honestly great right out of the bag.

The Flax Seed Bread is just as wonderful-the same thing as the bun in sliced form. No need to toast it to enjoy it, but is it ever awesome toasted! It’s not quite as soft as a white sandwich bread because of all the seeds, but it sure is a really nice, healthy sandwich choice.

Ingredients: Water, Potato Starch, Tapioca Flour, Sunflower Oil, Glycerine, Soya, Crushed Flaxseed, Baker’s Yeast, Whole Grain Rice Flour, Chickpea Flour, Cellulose Fibre, Sea Salt, Xanthan Gum, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Poppy Seeds. Contains: Soy.
May contain traces of:
Egg, Sesame. Declarations: Low Saturated Fat, Cholesterol Free.

White Buns

These buns are equally as delicious as the Flax Seed Buns! They are a little simpler in flavor and have a sprinkling of sesame seeds on top. Another excellent choice for hamburgers or sandwiches. I heated one of these up for about 10 seconds in the microwave and it practically melted in my mouth. These are super soft and tasty. No one would even know you are giving them Gluten Free.

Ingredients: Water, Potato Starch, Tapioca Flour, Sunflower Oil, Glycerine, Soya, Baker’s Yeast, Whole Grain Rice Flour, Chickpea Flour, Cellulose Fibre, Sea Salt, Xanthan Gum, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Sesame Seeds. Contains: Soy, Sesame. May contain traces of: Egg.
Declarations: Low Saturated Fat, Cholesterol Free.

Apple Cranberry Breakfast Buns

These awesome slightly sweet buns are a soft, brown bread filled with apple and cranberry bits. Sooo perfect for toasting with some jam for breakfast. The taste is reminiscent of a raisin bread, only much more interesting to the taste buds.

Ingredients: Water, Potato Starch, Soya, Tapioca Flour, Sunflower Oil, Glycerine, Raisins, Cranberries, Apples, Baker’s Yeast, White Rice Flour, Chickpea Flour, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Cellulose Fibre, Sea Salt, Xanthan Gum, Ground Cinnamon, Baking Powder, Baking Soda. Contains: Soy. May contain traces of: Egg, Sesame. Declarations: Low Saturated Fat, Cholesterol Free.
