Go Max Go! Gluten Free, Casein Free All Natural Candy Bars

Thanks to everyone who participated in our random drawing. Go Max Go will be sending candy bars to try out to: Kris O., Jacqueline Cherry & Joanne Gentry!

Have you heard of Go Max Go? They contacted me recently to tell me about their gluten free/casein free candy bars. I’m not dairy free, but I know so many are and chocolate is hard to locate, so I was really excited to get their samples in the mail.

The candy bars resemble the full gluten and dairy versions that you might have eaten in the past, but have been avoiding because you are dairy free. I have a little friend, Jadon, who has been trying out his swimming skills in my pool this summer. Jadon is dairy free as well as gluten and egg free, so I’ve been more aware of trying to find snacks he can enjoy while he’s here. These bars are so perfect for a little treat every now and then after a swim (of course, I’ll check with his mom first).

Go Max Go sent me the three gluten free flavors they make. Here are the details on them in the order that my testers liked them:

SNAP!

Snap is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, has no trans fat, no hydrogenated oils, no cholesterol and nothing artificial. It’s basically like a Nestle Crunch Bar. If it came in a Nestle package, you wouldn’t know the difference. There’s no weird aftertaste like you might expect from a candy bar with no dairy. My testers love it!

INGREDIENTS (VEGAN): UNREFINED CANE SUGAR, PALM KERNEL OIL, WHOLE GRAIN BROWN RICE, COCOA POWDER (NATURAL), RICE POWDER (RICE SYRUP SOLIDS, RICE STARCH, RICE FLOUR, CARRAGEENAN), SOYBEAN LECITHIN, SALT.

Cleo’s Peanut Butter Cups

Every now and then people post the idea for a letter-writing campaign to get Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to be dairy free. Well, here’s a great option. These delicious replicas cover the creamy peanut butter with rice milk chocolate. They are also gluten free, dairy free, vegan, has no trans fat, no hydrogenated oils, no cholesterol and nothing artificial.

INGREDIENTS (VEGAN): PEANUTS (DRY ROASTED) UNREFINED CANE SUGAR, PALM KERNEL OIL, COCOA POWDER (NATURAL), RICE POWDER (RICE SYRUP SOLIDS, RICE STARCH, RICE FLOUR, CARRAGEENAN), SOYBEAN LECITHIN, SALT.

Mahalo

This great bar is similar to an Almond Joy – coconut and almonds in a rice milk chocolate. It is also gluten free, dairy free, vegan, has no trans fat, no hydrogenated oils, no cholesterol and nothing artificial. The coconut is smooth and sweet and I really love that the chocolate on all these actually has a great flavor even though its dairy free.

INGREDIENTS (VEGAN): DESSICATED COCONUT, EVAPORATED CANE JUICE, RICE SYRUP, PALM KERNEL OIL, AGAVE SYRUP, BEET SUGAR, ALMONDS (DRY ROASTED), COCOA POWDER (NATURAL), RICE POWDER (RICE SYRUP SOLIDS, RICE STARCH, RICE FLOUR, CARRAGEENAN), PALM OIL, NATURAL FLAVORS, SOYBEAN LECITHIN, ENZYME MODIFIED SOY PROTEIN, SALT.

If you check out the Go Max Go Website or these product packages today, you won’t see much about them being gluten free, but here are the answers they sent to my questions about that and their cross contamination precautions:

“Our new packaging, which is making its way through the distribution chain, has gluten-free stated on it. We’re going to be doing a full website redesign soon and we’ll have the gluten-free info more prominent.”

“While we use a shared facility, our products are run on dedicated days after thorough clean-outs of all the equipment.  Our manufacturing partners are very strict about keeping our products free of cross contamination, both for the gluten-free and dairy-free aspects.  Also, our products that contain barley malt [which are in the process of being reformulated without it] are run on  separate equipment from the gluten-free products.  And we have had our products lab tested for gluten, which has resulted in all 3 gluten-free flavors containing less than 10 ppm of gluten.”

I’m really excited to have another gluten free, dairy free, egg free treat to offer my friend next time he wants to stop by for a swim!

Use their store locator to find them in a store near you, or use their mail order form on the same page.
