Thanksgiving Tips, Recipes & Resources
Here are some last minute holiday tips and resources in case you don’t have your Thanksgiving all figured out yet.
Remember:
- Check your turkey label or call company to confirm gluten free status
- Substitute Corn Starch or Arrowroot for the flour in your gravy to easily make it gluten free
- Avoid Gravy Packets
- Stuffed Turkeys contain gluten even if you don’t eat the stuffing
- Practice any new Gluten Free Recipes early to be sure you like them!
Inviting Guests Over:
- Serve buffet style with gluten free items in a separate spot so there is no mistaking where the safe choices are
- Use the many Gluten Free recipe resources online to make Gluten Free options that everyone will enjoy
- Have lots of Gluten Free finger foods – veggies, fruit, nuts, cookies, cheese, pretzels, etc, for kids to munch on if they must be gluten free so they are not tempted by other items
Going To Someone Else’s House
- Ask them in advance for the brand of turkey so you can check the gluten free status yourself
- You can always make a small turkey breast at home and bring a serving for yourself if needed
- Bring several Gluten Free dishes that you can enjoy for everyone to share, especially a dessert if you want one, as there are rarely Gluten Free dessert choices.
